A Message from our President:

Dear Austin ZTA Sisters,

I’m so glad that you’ve found us! Whether you are a recent graduate and just beginning to explore what ZTA means to you as a new alumna, or your collegiate days were many years ago, and you are looking to reconnect with your sisterhood; please know you will always have a home in Zeta Tau Alpha.

When I was a new alumna living in Williamson County in 1994, it was a smooth transition for me into the local alumnae chapter because I already knew many of those wonderful women, as they had been my Lambda chapter advisors at Southwestern University. However, after moving to southwest Austin, the busyness of working and raising two young children gave me an easy excuse not to join the Austin alumnae chapter. But the real reason was that I was nervous. I imagined a group of Zetas who all attended a large Texas university and who already knew each other. Coming from both a small collegiate and alumnae chapter, I worried that I would have a hard time finding a space for myself and connecting with new sisters.

After too many years of letting excuses stop me, I finally ventured to my first Austin ZTA event in 2015. What I discovered was a wonderfully diverse group of women; of all ages and backgrounds. Everyone I met was delightful and welcoming. Four years later, and the Austin ZTA chapter has given me rich friendships and priceless memories, and my only regret is that I waited so long.

We would love the opportunity to make you feel welcome and show you that ZTA is still where you belong too. Please join us this year for one of our great events and see firsthand the sisterhood this chapter has to offer!

Zeta love, Marcia Pannabecker Oakes Austin Alumnae Chapter President
